Verdict
Saloon has done little wrong this season having not been out of the first three home in any of his five starts this term but a 5lb rise for his latest effort when third behind Silent Applause at Newmarket looks a shade harsh and preference is for HAWK MOUNTAIN, who gets the vote with Ursis rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has, like Saloon, done little wrong this term but probably ran his best race of the campaign when chasing home Nemo Spirit at York earlier this month and he has solid claims off just a 2lb higher mark today. Clive Cox has his team in great form but his runner, Wild Rhubarb, looks too high in the weights now following his success at Warwick last month. Alan Swinbank's Puy d'Arnac has been running well but seems booked for a place at best. Tom Tate's Inspector Clouseau ran better when finding just Toshi too good at Chester earlier this month and he has to be respected on that evidence racing off the same mark today. Ursis has been running really well in recent outings be it on the flat or over hurdles and has not been out of the first two in his last six starts but a 2lb rise makes this more difficult and preference is for Hawk Mountain.
