Verdict

Paul Cole has his string in good nick and we will take a chance here that BALTIMORE CLIPPER will up to the task of winning on debut, while Missionaire and Irish Jugger look best of those to have raced. The selection was not an expensive purchase compared to some his trainer has in, but the American-bred colt should find this 7f just about ideal over which to start. Related to juvenile winners, the reports about him have been positive and we will give him the nod. Experience counts for a fair bit at this stage and Missionaire had a positive experience when runner up at Windsor on his debut earlier in the month. He led his group home that day and he must be considered a major player again today. Irish Jugger was given a good education at Hamilton and should appreciate the extra furlong today. Karl Burke is another trainer with runners firing on all cylinders and his charge is very much respected. Richard Hannon's Suited And Booted is a nicely-bred colt and half-brother to Cake, who was a triple 5f winner at two. Given that his trainer is pitching him in over 7f for starters he may not have shown too much zip on the gallops and perhaps a market check is best advised. Nideeb looks likely to be better over further and Timely Jazz is perhaps more likely to get involved today, but Baltimore Clipper is a tentative pick.
