In depth

Verdict

Wingbeat provided Godolphin with their first domestic winner this season and can land this en-route to competing in pattern company later on this season. His win at Newmarket was achieved in a muddling five runner handicap where they didn't go any great pace early on. When asked to quicken, he did so nicely. Should no early pace exist again, his rider will have no qualms about making it as an extra furlong should prove no problem to him. The other lightly raced sort in the race Light Hearted also deserves respect. She won a Brighton maiden emphatically earlier this month but what she beat did not amount to much. Highland Daughter has some smart juvenile form in the bag. Well beaten in the Nell Gwyn on her seasonal debut when she did not appear to stay, she re-appeared at Ascot behind Sir Gerry with an improved performance. She is each way material but connections will find it difficult to place her. Lesson In Humility has posted two promising efforts in handicaps this season to-date, the latest behind the well-backed Hamish McGonagall. Quite an interesting conditions stakes and we will side with potential and give Wingbeat the vote.
