In depth

Verdict

Gordon Elliott, who has won three of the last four, has three of the five entries including last year's winner Mala Beach. He's not getting any younger and struggled to make an impression in the Galmoy Hurdle won by Presenting Percy in January but race conditions are in his favour. JURY DUTY has to concede him plenty of weight and hasn't run since a brilliant victory in the Grand National over hurdles at Far Hills in the USA in October. A close third in the Galway Plate earlier, he goes well fresh so the lack of a run shouldn't pose a problem. The once top-class Don Poli pulled up in the Galmoy Hurdle as he did in last year's Grand National. He's heading for Aintree again and it wouldn't be a shock to see him bounce back to form. Baie Des Iles showed his liking for testing conditions when landing a Grade 2 at Auteuil last summer and in that kind of form would have to be considered but Sir Ector has a lot to do.
