In depth

Despite having to carry a penalty for his two victories on the Flat, BATTS ROCK looks to have been found a simple opportunity to lose his maiden tag over timber. Gordon Elliott's charge has had six runs over timber, all at around the minimum trip, and hasn't been finding much at the business end but the opposition here looks weak. His stable companion Killinkere was well beaten in a bumper here a couple of weeks ago while Ificudiwud, a winner between the flags, will probably need further and softer ground. The four-year-old Hewick failed to finish in three point-to-points but showed some potential on his hurdling debut at Tramore and won't need to improve much to get into contention.
