Verdict

FAME AND GLORY should take this contest, in the process accounting for Sariska, with Cavalryman and the admirable Youmzain likely to fight it out for minor honours. Aiden O'Brien's charge may well have etched his name onto the list of great horses were it not for Sea The Stars and with that rival retired to stud it could be said he's the best older horse in training. Since being turned over at odds-on on his seasonal debut the son of Montjeu hasn't looked back, winning twice at the Curragh in decisive fashion. Despite the fact his main rival failed to run to form last time, the four-year-old sets a standard the rest are unlikely to be able to reach. Of the remainder Sariska has to be considered the main threat. Michael Bell's filly returned to action with a cosy victory at York and the Oaks heroine has shown a liking for the course before. Rated 118 she rates the main danger to our selection, but as a horse who prefers some cut in the ground she's readily opposed. Cavalryman may come home best of the rest. The former Andre Fabre inmate is a classy animal on his day although it has to be said he's been found out when upped to this level and a similar case looks likely here, despite the fact that the yard seem to be coming into some sort of form. Youmzain has the reputation of a nearly horse having twice been second in the Arc. Mick Channon's charge is a likeable type though and should once again run his race, although it's hard to envisage him beating our selection. Of the remainder few make serious appeal in terms of finding the winner; High Heeled will need to have improved leaps and bounds for joining John Gosden and has plenty to find with Sariska let alone our selection whilst Jukebox Jury still has to prove he's a true Group One performer despite having won in the grade at Cologne last term. As ever this is a cracking renewal of the Coronation Cup but it'll be disappointing if Fame And Glory doesn't win this well.
