Verdict

Aidan O'Brien runs three in a bid to land his fourth consecutive Derby. Ryan Moore rode all three on their latest starts and goes with Curragh runner-up Giovanni Canaletto, a brother to 2013 Derby winner Ruler Of The World. The son of Galileo has come in for strong support this week. Kilimanjaro landed the Lingfield Derby Trial and Hans Holbein won the Chester Vase where he beat subsequent Goodwood winner Storm The Stars. The progressive Success Days is another Irish raider and he finished a long way in front of Carbon Dating when romping home in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown in testing ground. The French challenger Epicuris won a Group 1 as a two-year-old, also in heavy ground, but GOLDEN HORN could prove the one to beat. He ended stablemate Jack Hobbs' unbeaten record in the Dante at York in fine style with Racing Post Trophy winner Elm Park back in third. The decision to supplement him for this will not have been a difficult one after that performance and a bold bid looks assured from John Gosden's colt. Jack Hobbs participation depends on the ground remaining good or softer while Moheet and German raider Rogue Runner make up the field but are hard to fancy on what they have shown to date.
