        Verdict

2005 was the last time the favourite obliged and this looks as wide-open as ever. Lungarno Palace scored over track and trip in April with Jakey and Barwick filling the places. The latter pair re-oppose on better terms and both save their best for this course. Oasis Fantasy has gone close the last twice but has been raised another 5lb after a second at Goodwood and Highland Castle has been raised 8lb for last month's success at Salisbury. Gothic ran poorly at Newmarket last time without any apparent excuse but MONTALY would have found the 1m6f far enough when fifth on his recent reappearance. A winner in this grade at Haydock last season, Andrew Balding's charge is fancied to improve back over 1m4f and gets a speculative vote.
