In depth

Verdict

Edgeworth and Caster Sugar will rightly be popular but AURORA SKY could be the one to light up this occasion. John Akehurst's filly showed promise in all three runs in maidens and proved that the handicapper had it about right when making good headway to finish fourth in a competitive Newbury handicap on her bow in that sphere. She's able to race from the same mark on this occasion and should go close as long as there's a decent pace. Saturn Way was made favourite for a handicap that went the way of Edgeworth last time so has to be feared on the form that he showed prior to that disappointment which saw him virtually pulled up. Edgeworth has gone from strength to strength and is only creeping up the weights in relatively small increments so could continue to pay his way. Caster Sugar battled gamely to score at Salisbury but appears to have little wriggle room from her revised mark although her relative consistency is a tick in the plus column. Dream On Connie was well backed last time and had little chance in getting involved from off the pace where she raced keenly; she's worth noting with the yard getting into gear whilst Squad has claims but didn't look an easy ride at Lingfield when the in-form Holland failed to galvanise him in time. A good spectacle to bring proceedings to a close and we'll be looking to Aurora Sky to send us home on a winning note.
