    Verdict

BOTHY looks the pick in this maiden; Mehendi and Lady Francesca are the others to consider. Ralph Beckett's three-year-old catches the eye on breeding and he made a really pleasing racecourse debut when he chased home Shanky Biscuit at Newbury. That was quite a competitive race so it was a sound effort and if he can build on that here then he should be difficult to beat. Mehendi has shaped with promise on each of his two starts and his chance wasn't helped by being slowly away at Bath when last seen out. He clearly has plenty of ability and he should be capable of going well. Lady Francesca was outclassed in a Listed race at Newmarket last year but the fact that connections aimed so high with her is an illustration of the fact that she is quite useful. Peaceful Rule showed promise on his debut at Thirsk when he shaped as though he would learn plenty for the experience. This is an open race where the market may provide the clues, but Bothy sets a decent standard and is the pick.
