Verdict
Linus improved significantly on his first start for Martin Pipe at Taunton last time when, despite being 8lbs out of the handicap, he bolted up in a selling hurdle, and was bought in at the subsequent auction for 12,000 guineas. This is, in effect, a step up in class but he is only seven pounds higher in the weights and he looks the sort who could set up a sequence of wins before the handicapper gets to grips with him. The obvious danger is King Georges, who will be partnered by the season's leading amateur in Christian Williams, and was an impressive winner over course and distance last time out. Country Kris has struggled on both starts this season, but is not too badly treated on his best form last year and is one to consider at decent odds, but we belive Linus is a banker bet.
