Verdict

A race that has cut up badly since the five day stage with Martin Pipe's legion of runners narrowed down to just one sole entrant. Ex German horse, Maragun managed to cream off a few summer prizes in 2001 but looked to have lost confidence after an abortive chasing career. He probably has enough weight as present and he is passed over in favour of Il Capitano. Paul Nicholls charge managed to jump Tiger Grass silly last week and provided that he feels no ill-effects from another facile win on Saturday, he is given the TEAMtalk nod albeit at prohibitive odds. Elaando did finish second to My Bold Boyo in a conditional handicap hurdle here in April. He has been none-too-consistent of late and is deservedly third placed in the betting.
