Verdict

TOOR GENERAL (NAP) had hinted at an imminent victory when third at Limerick and duly obliged at Roscommon. Davy Russell looked to have a bit in hand on him and can steer him to another victory from 5lb higher. Mandarin Monarch, who was having just his second start since February that day, only faded on the run-in and can get closer without reversing the places. Knock On Steel makes his handicap debut after landing a Clonmel maiden and will do well to concede the selection weight as will the four-year-old Rock On Dandy, a triple all-weather winner who showed his first sign of ability over hurdles in a Ballinrobe maiden in August.
