    Verdict

Champagne Rossini ran respectably in a similar contest over course and distance last month and has to be respected on that evidence but Michael Chapman's gelding may have to settle for minor honours again with preference for Mungo Jerry, who gets the vote ahead of Major Jon. The last mentioned is capable of taking a hand in this contest but is hard to recommend on recent evidence so may be best watched. Simplified disappointed last time but would have claims on the form shown the time before, while Discomania looks out of his depth even in this lowly grade. Winning pointer Tuareg gave little sign for encouragement when returned to rules last time and preference is for Mungo Jerry, in the hope that he strips a lot fitter for his recent return.
