In depth
Verdict
Walcot Lad was most impressive when winning at Fontwell last time and looks set to follow up at the expense of Runaway Bishop and Flinders. The selection easily got the better of some in form horses in that amateur riders event and in this mood looks difficult to oppose. The only slight concern would be the trip as his best performances have come over shorter. He was in fact beaten by today's rival Flinders when they met over three and a quarter miles here in April, however he did make a bad mistake three out which cost him any chance he had. It should be close between them today, but Walcot Lad appears in better heart at present so is preferred. Runaway Bishop has been a model of consistency this campaign and put up another solid display when third at Haydock last time. He is once again weighted to go close. Gale Star is another who rarely runs a bad race so is also worth a mention, but Walcot Lad is in top form at present and can't be ignored.
