Verdict
The well drawn Komena is a tentative choice to beat the likes of Gentle Respone, Irma la Douce and Woodbury. The latter has been done no favours by the draw, having to do it the hard way from stall three. However, Karl Burke's filly has been knocking on the door of late and we have followed her progress closely since the handicapper has started to relent-it is only a matter of time before she does come good again. Irma La Douce, drawn near the far rail, will have her supporters after one or two decent efforts this term, while Gentle Response has been showing signs of a return to form of late, notably when second to Erracht at Bath. This is a bit tougher though, and we prefer the claims of Komena. She has plummeted down the ratings since her nursery days and has posted two good efforts this summer, coincidentally with Richard Quinn on board. Her second to Firework at Lingfield three weeks ago suggests that her turn is near and with the Scot in the plate again. Pip Payne's charge may oblige at a decent price.
