      Verdict

      The feature race on the card can to Island Light, with scopey Uraib and busy Camille Pissarro taken to give him most to do. Ed Dunlop's Woodman colt needs fast ground, and the lack of such underfoot conditions no doubt contributed to his lacklustre return at Nottingham in May. It was a different story next time though at Chepstow as he dominated a small field from start to finish, holding on well from the favourite Loweswater. He was basically outclassed behind Hawk Flyer at Ascot on his next engagement and is strongly fancied to get back to winning ways against this opposition. Camille Pissarro has been a bit in and out all season but did finish sixth in the John Smith's Cup at York so cannot be ruled out of a say in proceedings, but a bigger danger may be Uraib. Ben Hanbury's filly made all on her Kempton debut but was asked to take on Listed company at Ascot on only her second career start, and found the company too hot at this stage of her development. She may well take Island Light on for the lead here but will find him a hard horse to pass, and although she can only improve, Island Light is no mug and can battle his way to the winner's enclosure with conditions very much in his favour.
