In depth

Verdict

Not much public form to go on and, as ever in this type of event, the market will provide further clues but Apollo Theatre sets a fair standard and gets the vote. Richard Rowe's gelded son of Sadler's Wells showed he is progressing along the right lines when a close third over course and distance last month and, granted further improvement, should be on the premises once again. Samby has also shown plenty of ability in two starts to date and will prove no pushover while Green Iceni was disappointing on her recent debut but should prove capable of better and can't be discounted. Noel Chance saddles an interesting newcomer in the shape of Corporate Player who makes plenty of appeal on breeding and wouldn't have to be out of the ordinary to make an impact at this level.
