In depth

Verdict

John Gosden's stable are in flying form and his 3-year-old Age of Kings should be good enough to take this with Desert Demon and Mostashaar respected as the pair that will give him the most to do. The selection ran well in a Listed race at Ascot when sixth behind Chateau Istana when last seen out. He was beaten by inexperience that day and he was staying-on with some purpose at the finish. The step-up in trip will therefore play to his strengths and he looks to have an outstanding chance. Desert Demon raced far too keenly when last seen out at Salisbury when he finished third behind Loaderfun, and if he settles better here then he would have to stand a realistic chance. Mostashaar ran a fair race in quite a hot maiden at Leicester last season which has since thrown up some winners. He is sure to come on for the run and he should be noted in the market for any signs of stable confidence. Kristonor showed a modicum of ability on his debut but then disappointed last time, so he is another worth a second look in the market, but for the winner we return to Age of Kings.
