In depth
Verdict
A high draw can be beneficial to Mugeba, who is preferred over Half A Handful and Arfinnit, who make up the main body of the opposition. While the speedy Bella Tutrice also comes into the argument on the best of her form and is in there with a shout of at least a place, if her position on the near-side rail does not hinder her chance as things unfold. Her latest start was given a sound boost at Lingfield yesterday and, with a useful jockey doing the steering, she looks sure to go close. Half A Handful is also going the right way and her connections will no doubt be hoping that the first time visor does the trick today. However, he also has a poor draw to contend with and may still have to wait a little longer before he can be confidently recommended to lose his maiden tag. Arfinnit, on the other hand, has endured a slow decline since he was clobbered with a rating in the low eighties last year and looks vulnerable to a less exposed type. Which we hope will be Mugeba, as the Gay Kellaway-trained filly has come good just at the right time for this. Kellaway paid 9,000gns for the daughter of Primo Dominie after her game victory in a seller at Yarmouth last month. That form looks solid in the context of this race and Mugeba is given the office to follow up off the same mark today.
