In depth

Verdict

Politicise easily won a 2m4f Kilbeggan maiden but was well beaten in a better race over that trip at Gowran last week though, didn't get the best of runs. Saint D'Oroux won his maiden on heavy going and finished third in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham on soft ground. He weakened quickly on his reappearance in a Bellewstown handicap earlier this month but that didn't look his form. Very Excellent lost his maiden tag in impressive fashion on the latter track but ANNA BUNINA looked a filly to follow when easily accounting for today's rival Guinevere at Cork last week and is taken to follow up. Red Gerry was beaten a long way into second at Fairyhouse, though should do better on this quicker ground, while Shamiyan made a very promising debut over timber at Roscommon.
