    In depth

    Verdict

The unexposed Magic Instinct can confirm his narrow superiority over Double Kudos, while Piccolomini will be a big threat to them all if he handles the faster conditions. Like the selection, Piccolomini handled this course and distance well last time out and has scope for further progression. He is respected but, as he has never raced on ground this fast before, his ability to cope has to be taken on trust. Double Kudos has been the subject of solid support on a couple of occasions this term. He shapes as if he can continue to pay his way this term and looks good value to at least make the frame. However, Magic Instinct had his measure when they met here in April and, as he has subsequently franked the form, son of Entrepreneur is worth persevering with for the time being. His trainer Marcus Tregoning has his string in good order and Magic Instinct looks the perfect type to enhance his record at a track that has served him well for winners over the last few years.
