Verdict
Serraval lost no caste in defeat when second to Royal Racer on his first start for two years at Folkestone recently and has claims but may well "bounce" and a safer proposition looks to be Man The Gate, who is preferred to Rebate. The selection will not minded the recent rain, goes well for today's rider who partnered him to success at Epsom last month and remains well enough treated. The consistent Treetops Hotel has yet to prove his effectiveness over today's distance and of more interest may be Jamie Osborne's Once who is 4lbs lower than when third to Nakwa at Haydock on his reappearance and comes from a stable that is beginning to come out of the doldrums. The ex-Irish Icarus Dream is less exposed than some of these and is probably capable of better than he showed on his British debut, while Traveller's Tale has the assistance of one of the better apprentices. Garston Star is another worthy of a mention along with Richard Hannon's Rebate, who showed more encouraging signs at Newmarket last time and may be running into form, but the vote goes to Man The Gate.
