Verdict

Attorney may prove the answer in the apprentice event, with Chatshow, Redwood Star, Double M and Effective seen as the main dangers. Attorney bounced back to form when making the most of a good draw in amateur company at Hamilton nine days ago, adding to victories in equally moderate events at Lingfield and Folkestone in April. He has been a grand servant to connections, and as long as the ground does not dry up, he once again has leading claims. Chatshow was found wanting for pace over the minimum at Salisbury last time and is stepped back up in trip. He is a bit high in the weights at present and should be held by the selection. Redwood Star was all out to beat Law Maker at Brighton eight days ago and now has a seven-pound penalty to overcome, so will find it harder, but should handle the track. Double M has struck out in his last two outings and just seems to have gone off the boil at present, but he has won here in the past. Effective was fancied at Lingfield at the end of last month but was found wanting yet again over seven furlongs. The return to this trip may help, but he does not make too much appeal, and we prefer the claims of Attorney.
