Verdict
An awful race can go the way of Southern Tide who gets only a tentative vote over the likes of Forehand, Worth A Grand and Mister Troubridge to name but a few. A big field of thus-far disappointing sorts line up here, and it is with no great confidence that Southern Tide is selected, as he is one of the few to have actually won a race. Successful on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton in March, he has failed to repeat the feat in two subsequent outings there, and cannot be considered a good thing, but the fact that he is nominated shows how poor this race is. Worth A Grand managed to get his head in front on soft ground at Folkestone in March but has been beaten in five outings since, while Mister Troubridge has shown a bit of improvement since being put into handicaps, but is perhaps best watched at present, and a bigger danger may be Forehand who threw away his chance by hanging when second at Nottingham last time. Even so, that was a big improvement on anything that he has shown so far, and it would be no surprise if he were to be placed. However, it is Southern Tide that is put forward, as much in hope as optimism.
