In depth

Verdict

Dolce Piccata has found one too good in each of her last three starts and may have to settle for minor honours again here behind Binnion Bay, who along with Nights Cross is open to more improvement than Brian Meehan's filly. Binnion Bay looked unlucky on her Lingfield debut earlier in the month when hitting the rail and unable to recover having nearly unseated her rider inside the final furlong. Richard Hannon's filly is sure to have learnt from that experience and is taken to gain compensation. Mick Channon's juveniles normally improve with racing so it would be no surprise to see Nights Cross step up on his debut fifth at Salisbury. Dolce Piccata is becoming expensive to follow and looks opposable now. The newcomers make limited appeal on breeding and look to face a stiff task against those with experience.
