        Verdict

        The short list has to contain Alhaitham, Thalberg and Distinctive Look, and, of these, we will give the vote to Alhaitham. Alhaitham's maiden form has been justifiably rated in the 80s, a kind of mark that has to put him high on the short list of probables for this contest. Thalberg has shown fair maiden form in finishing second at both Ripon and Leicester in his last two maiden races and he looks a major player too. Distinctive Look looks the other key player based on her Lingfield all-weather second placing last time. Finally, with Valuta being hard to assess, we return to the selection, which is Alhaitham, who has form enough to go well in a maiden that lacks strength in depth.
