Darkened was still beaten a long way when runner-up at Galway and the more-exposed Scorched Earth is preferred having gone close at Ballinrobe last time. The latter is weighted to beat Metier, who should finish closer back over a shorter trip today, but TIMEMAKESITFINE is preferred. The latter returned a losing favourite when runner-up at Roscommon last time but the winner is rated 80 and that looks strong enough form to go close in this. Of the newcomers, Viaticus is a brother to top-class former stablemate Pleascach while Bashiyr represents Dermot Weld, who has won four of the last eight renewals.
