In depth

DELAYED ELOQUENCE has now been a beaten favourite in five of her last six starts and has a career record of 0-17. She didn't take to fences last time but her earlier runs give her an obvious chance of finally getting off the mark. Ceide Fields looked as though he needed this sort of trip when fourth at Listowel though he's another long-time maiden. He had Chateauneuf Du Pap just behind that day and the latter, who started favourite, didn't appear suited by heavy ground. Runner-up on that occasion was Cluan Dara, who was producing easily his best form to date and was well backed to do so. He'll need to prove he stays this trip but looks the main threat. Midnight Stroll showed potential in bumpers in the spring and is one to note for the future.

Ceide Fields 3-1 (11-12) Settled behind leaders, 4th halfway, pushed along after 2 out, ridden after last, no impression run-in, kept on same pace, 4th of 7, 5 1/2l behind Crocodile Dundee (11-10) at Listowel 2m mdn hvy in Sep.

Chateauneuf Du Pap 2-1fav (11-10) Held up towards rear, slight mistake 3 out, ridden in 6th 2 out, no impression in 5th last, kept on same pace, 5th of 7, 6 3/4l behind Crocodile Dundee (11-10) at Listowel 2m mdn hvy in Sep.

Midnight Stroll 4-1 (11-7) Held up in rear, 6th from 5f out, closed travelling smoothly before straight, soon 3rd and improved further, chased winner over 1f out, soon no impression and one pace, 3rd of 7, 4 3/4l behind Dead Right (11-7) at Punchestown 2m Good - Yielding in Apr.

Phar Island (IRE) 12-1 (10-12) Mid-division, 9th halfway, progress after 4 out, challenged entering straight, close 4th 3 out, ridden in 3rd next, under pressure and slight mistake last, no extra and kept on one pace run-in, 6th of 22, 10l behind Let's Twist Again (11-6) at Navan 2m 6f hcp Yielding in Sep.
