Verdict

BALKO DES FLOS was receiving 7lb from Shaneshill when they occupied the first two places in the Galway Plate. The winner won with a bit in hand and, as the runner-up has since been beaten at long odds-on at the same track, he gets the vote to follow up on the revised terms. The latter's stable companion Ballycasey was beaten a long way at Galway but will have found the going too quick and with a 9lb pull with the winner should get closer. A Toi Phil ran a fine race to finish fourth in the Plate and is a smart young chaser and he's more likely to make a race of it despite having something to find on official ratings. Kylecrue is decent in his class but has a mountain to climb against these.
