In depth
Verdict
A headscratcher of a race in which My Daisychain is taken to beat the inconsistent trio of Gargoyle Girl, Repulse Bay and Ambushed. Mark Johnston's charge took a similar event at the track for today's rider and with inconsistency appearing to abound in this contest, he does at least carry a reasonable level of form with him. Jim Goldie's My Daisychain has to be given a chance on the evidence of a second to Coolbythepool here in July. Repulse Bay is a notoriously tricky ride but the best jockey in the race is on board and there is every chance that if he settles, he could go close. Ambushed is perhaps not the same creature as he once was but if any rain falls before the race, his chances will be greatly improved. Lost Spirit is exposed as moderate but goes well for a lady rider and is not totally out of the reckoning. We will stick with Scotsman Mark Johnston to take the final race in his native country with My Daisychain.
