    In depth

    Verdict

Geordie George showed his liking for soft ground at Carlisle and a 3lb rise isn't excessive but Cliff Bay's victory here was gained on fast going and a 5lb rise won't help. Snookered's narrow defeat at Wetherby was in a lower grade though his young rider's claim is a bonus after a 4lb rise while Haymarket also scored at a lower level at Ayr. FORTUITIES hails from a yard in top form and made a promising handicap debut at Ripon. That was only her fourth start and, with improvement likely, she can get off the mark. Amy Blair landed a Class 6 handicap here but disappointed on a return visit a few days later though that could have come too soon.
