In depth

Verdict

Jordans Elect can go close despite topweight, with Mister Benji, Defi and El Palmar all likely to play their part. Jordans Elect has been placed on each of his last three outings, including twice here at Hamilton in May. He took too keen a hold when trying to make all at Ayr over 10 furlongs last time, finishing third in the end, and this drop back to a mile with slightly more restraint from the saddle can see him gain a deserved third course victory, the last of which was in this very race two years ago. Mister Benji gets plenty of weight from the selection, but most of his form has been on the all-weather, while of late that comment also applies to Defi. El Palmar likewise has been confined to the sand, but a look back at his form reveals that he was successful at York off a mark of 68 for David Barron two years ago, and he is interesting with his stable in good form recently. Nevada Desert is a former course-and-distance winner so is worth a mention as well, although his recent form is uninspiring, and for the winner we much prefer the claims of Jordans Elect.
