In depth

Verdict

A weak maiden in which preference is for Ubenkor ahead of President Elect and Ridley Didley. Bryan Smart's colt ran his best race to date when second recently to Muftarres at Redcar. Whilst it is disconcerting that it coincided with a first run on fast ground, he should be able to handle these conditions, which should make the drop in trip less of a speed test. He is no superstar, but he wouldn't need to be to beat these. Foreign Rhythm has had plenty of chances and has plenty to find on official ratings, whilst the same applies to Paddy Jack although eh comes here on the back of a decent handicap effort. President Elect has the same official rating as the selection, but David Barron's gelding is more exposed and was behind Ubenkor when they clashed at Redcar. An open race, but possibly a good chance for Ubenkor to win his maiden.
