Verdict
Knot In Wood, Turnkey and Eisteddfodd make the shortlist here, with Knot In Wood taken to lead them home. Turnkey had run well already this season before opening his seasonal account with a good win at Pontefract on Tuesday. Settled in rear by his capable apprentice, the taking Adele Rothery, Turnkey came with a smooth run on the outside to win convincingly. He saddles a penalty here as a consequence, but should not be discounted. Eisteddfod has an excellent winning ratio, with two wins to his credit already this season. He is lumbered with top weight, and although his recent Leicester win was over seven furlongs, he showed speed to win over this trip at Kempton and can go well especially if the ground retains some cut. Knot In Wood is held in some regard by his trainer Richard Fahey, and his charge shaped promisingly on his re-appearance at York, before a respectable effort in the Wokingham. That looked a hot race, and with conditions to suit, Knot In Wood can supplement two big handicap successes from last year.
