          Verdict

          Prix Star, who remains on a fair mark and bounces off this ground, can take advantage of a high draw to land a competitive opener. Pilgrim princess was an impressive winner at Thirsk last month but has paid the price and now looks held in the handicapper's grip while Swynford Welcome is dropping down the weights and has claims on the pick of last season's form. Touch Of Fairy showed signs of a return to form last time but is not particularly well drawn and a better alternative may be course and distance scorer Bowler's Boy who should be sharper for an encouraging return at Carlisle earlier in the month.
