Verdict

The market can be a useful guide here, given that the seven scheduled runners have only six runs between them, and we'll side with the most experienced in ORPEN ARMS, ahead of Colonel Mak and the most interesting newcomer Fantastic Strike. Orpen Arms has been placed in her three outings to date, and seemed to relish the extra furlong when stepped up from the minimum trip in a seller last time out. She's well drawn here, and the experience gained and improvement shown already make her the one to beat here. The yard's in cracking form, and it could be a duel between Yorkshire trainers Richard Fahey and Mark Johnston, who both do very well here. The latter sends out debutant Fantastic Strike. A cheap purchase last year, he's closely related to winners but over further, and he's drawn next door to the selection. Colonel Mak has the worst of the draw, but showed big improvement on debut to be placed next time out; both runs were over this trip and further improvement could be enough to take this. Any market support for any of the newcomers could be significant, but we're happy to side with Orpen Arms.
