Verdict

Sartingo looks the pick of the two newcomers in this maiden and any market support for Alan Swinbank's gelding would be of interest but it may be better to side with one of the sextet with racing experience with the vote going the way of WILD GEESE. Mark Johnston's colt was well held on his debut at Windsor earlier this month but the yard's runners often improve for their first start and, having been made favourite for that effort, better things were clearly expected and maybe they will be shown here. Bryan Smart's Tamarillo Grove has earned a rating of 73 but is becoming slightly exposed, although he does make more appeal than Jim Goldie's Tayacoba, who has shown little sign of ability in two outings so far.
