Verdict
Mark Johnston had four declared for this feature handicap and relies on Pushkin and Albanov, the last named gets the vote, with Gold Ring also set to run well. Albamov has shown very little in some top handicaps this season, apart from his run at Chester when getting his favoured soft ground. He finished a close up fourth to Swift Tango, and with conditions in his favour today he will be hard to beat. Pushkin is now a six-year-old but still retains plenty of ability as he showed when chasing home Corrib Eclipse over a much longer trip at Pontefract last time. The shorter distance today will not be ideal but he should still take a hand in the finish. Gold Ring ran a blinder to chase home Mephisto in the controversial Ebor handicap and looks can be expected to be thereabouts despite top-weight. Luca Cumani's Zeitgeist is also worth a mention, however the ground is the key today and Albanov will relish the underfoot conditions and is taken to oblige.
