In depth

Verdict

Princeofthequeen overcame a tardy start to lead inside the final furlong on debut at Thirsk but couldn't quite hang on. He should be going one better soon but a couple of his rivals also showed plenty of promise on their respective introductions. Harbour Lightning was also slowly away at Thirsk a couple of weeks ago and is capable of better but ALFIE'S ANGEL is preferred. Bryan Smart's colt plotted a wide course at Carlisle but stuck on really well in the closing stages and connections will have taken plenty of encouragement from that. Baileys Showgirl was favourite at Chelmsford 12 days ago but only beat one home.
