    In depth

Another low quality affair but that won't concern connections of IF WE CAN CAN, who gained his first success on fast going at Redcar last month. A 5lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent a double though runner-up Troop looks certain to make a bold bid to go one better though another furlong would have helped. Amity Island, a winner at Southwell last month, was having his first start on Turf on ground with some give at Thirsk and may do better on this quicker surface. Admiral Rooke has never tried a trip this far but hasn't been stopping over shorter but Plansina won twice at Newcastle at the beginning of the year and looked as though this trip would suit when tackling a mile at Redcar last time. Irish raider Viscount Wilson has only had four starts, all over shorter, so don't be surprised by major improvement over this trip.

Viscount Wilson 7-1 (9-6) Slowly into stride and in rear, last and pushed along 2f out, kept on without threatening final furlong, never nearer, 8th of 16, 12 1/4l behind Dream Of Words (9-5) at Gowran Park 7f hcp Soft - Heavy in May.

Amity Island 12-1 (9-2) Chased leaders, ridden over 1f out, kept on same pace inside final furlong, went 3rd close home, 3rd of 10, 3 1/2l behind Odds On Oli (9-3) at Thirsk 1m hcp (5) gs in Apr.

Admiral Rooke (IRE) 5-1 (9-9) Ttacked leaders, ridden over 2f out, kept on onre pace, 4th of 15, 5 1/4l behind Christmas Night (9-5) at Beverley 7f hcp (6) gf in May.

Broken Force (USA) 8-1 (8-12) Led, ridden and headed 2f out, lost place over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong, 9th of 12, 14 1/4l behind Moxy Mares (9-6) at Haydock 1m hcp (5) sft in Apr.

Mearing 7-1 (9-10) In touch, ridden and headway in centre over 1f out, stayed on towards finish, 3rd of 15, 2 1/2l behind Christmas Night (9-5) at Beverley 7f hcp (6) gf in May.

If We Can Can 9-2 (9-5) With leader, led over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, kept on well, won at Redcar 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in May beating Troop (8-9) by 1/2l, 11 ran.

    Plansina 4-1jfav (9-7) Always towards rear, 5th of 12, 4 1/4l behind Thundercloud (8-12) at Redcar 1m hcp (6) gf in May.

House Of Cards 66-1 (8-8) In touch, ridden and weakened over 1f out, 7th of 11, 9 1/4l behind Talaaqy (9-1) at Catterick 7f fll stks (5) gs in Apr.

Troop 16-1 (8-9) Towards rear, headway over 2f out, ridden to chase winner over 1f out, kept on towards finish, 2nd of 11, 1/2l behind If We Can Can (9-5) at Redcar 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in May.
