Verdict
An interesting claimer and one in which Wake can get back to winning ways, with Go Solo, Nopekan and Ile Facile rated as the biggest dangers. The Brian Meehan-trained selection has always displayed ability at home and confirmed that with a tidy win on Lingfield's all-weather in March. He's been more highly tried if disappointing since but should be more than capable of holding his own at this level. Go Solo represents the Barry Hills stable here and, while he has a few pounds to find with the selection on official ratings, he could yet improve for the step up in trip as his dam was a middle-distance winner. Irish import Nopekan comes firmly into the reckoning on his form from across the water and he was highly tried on his first run in this country last time. Of the others, Jimmy Byrne ran reasonably well in an amateurs' handicap last time and could be placed, while Ile Facile suggested last time that this trip suited him and it would be no surprise to see him go well. Overall, though, we will give Wake one more chance, and he is the selection.
