Verdict
The Clive Cox-trained Out After Dark looks a progressive performer and is taken to complete a hat trick at the main expense of Solar Power and Conjuror. The selection opened his account in a similar contest to this at Pontefract on a fast surface last month and stepped up on that effort when beating the in-form Morgan Lewis on a soft surface at Sandown subsequently. That effort makes the three-year-old the clear form pick and the son of Cadeaux Genereux is taken to follow up. Caustic Wit faces no easy task giving weight away all round and of more interest may be Solar Power. James Fanshawe's filly has shown a consistent level of form this term without troubling the judge but drops in trip today and could be interesting back over sprint distances. She rates a bigger threat than the exposed Kingscross. Andrew Balding's Conjuror is less exposed than most of these and could be anything and warrants respect along with Flur Na H Alba, although there is a suspicion that the last mentioned would prefer a faster surface. There are no such problems with Out After Dark, who remains unexposed and is taken to win again.
