In depth

Verdict

Smokin Beau has an obvious chance in this conditions race and the eight-year-old is taken to open his account for the season at the main expense of the reappearing Traytonic and Forever Phoenix. The last mentioned ran in Dubai during the winter and resumes at a realistic level. The daughter of Shareef Dancer holds solid claims on her best form but many of those that have wintered in the sun have struggled since returning to Europe and the five-year-old may be best watched at present. Look Here's Carol has the ability to play a part in the finish but Ed McMahon's mare has disappointed in two starts since making an encouraging return at Doncaster and of more interest may be James Fanshawe's Traytonic, although a penalty leaves him with more to do on his return to action. Circuit Dancer looks to be out of his depth, while Kevin Ryan's Halmahera is entitled to need the run on his return. The vote then goes to Smokin Beau who is well treated at the weights, has ground conditions to suit and comes into this in good form.
