Verdict

Having found one too good in each of his last two starts, With Reason looks to have been found a reasonable opportunity to go one better and is taken to score at the main expense of another perennial bridesmaid Selective and Millennium Force. The last mentioned is more than capable of figuring in this company but has to give weight away all round and, with a doubt remaining concerning the form of the Channon horses, he is probably best left alone. Selective has done little wrong in competitive handicaps, latterly the Victoria Cup, and deserves to take a decent prize but needs to improve again to get the better of With Reason. The five-year-old did not see the racecourse until this season so is open to plenty of improvement and has shown progressive form with a last time out second to Funfair in York's Hambleton Rated Stakes his best performance to date. Granted that there is more than likely more to come, the son of Nashwan is taken to take advantage of the race conditions. Attache should be better served by the return to seven furlongs having been outpaced over six last time, while Patsy's Double failed to stay a mile last time and is better over today's trip.
