In depth
Verdict
Although rated three pounds higher than for his July Doncaster win, Topton ran well from a revised mark last time and can land this mile handicap. Nashaad has been raised two pounds for a cracking good run behind Lady Bear at Goodwood eight days ago, but a repeat of that effort puts her on the premises. Freya's Dream was nineteenth in that race but is only a pound higher than for her last win. Both of Vicious Warrior's successes have come at ten furlongs and from lower marks. Baldour is a pound higher than for his Brighton win and, although beaten at Goodwood last time, is fairly lightly raced and might have better to come. Gem Bien is four pounds higher than for his July win and got the run of the race there so might be opposable. Flur Na H Alba is five pounds higher than for his Ayr win, which will make life more difficult although this mile trip might bring about some improvement. Blue Spinnaker was disappointing at Newcastle last time but can be given a chance based on placed efforts in a couple of competitive York handicaps before that. He too steps up in trip. Sarraaf is well handicapped on form of a few years ago, but recent efforts leave him with a bit to do. Once again, the nod goes to Topton.
