In depth
Verdict
Flipando may do better back on a faster surface having struggled on heavy ground in the John Smith's Cup last time but seems a shade high in the weights so preference is for Nevada Desert, with Electric Warrior rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been in fine form of late but remains favourably well treated as he only just keeps on defying the handicapper. Goodbye Mr Bond has a bit to find with Richard Whitaker's gelding on running at Thirsk last time, while Mark Johnston's Annemasse has struggled against the handicapper this term and may need some help from him. Sir Xaar is gradually returning to a fair mark and could be of interest having run better at Newcastle last time but he has yet to prove that he stays a mile and a better bet may be Electric Warrior, if he can translate form on the all-weather to turf. Nevada Desert has solid claims though and he is preferred.
