In depth

Verdict

With several confirmed front-runners in this, a fast pace can almost be guaranteed. Teddy Blue edged out Get Back Get Back and Aucunrisque at Plumpton, reversing earlier Newbury form with the latter. Brentford Hope has improved for the switch to Harry Derham’s yard and is unexposed in handicaps. A drop back in trip won’t faze Homme Public as long as they go a good gallop but Fruit N Nut, along with Parramount, was well behind Washington at Aintree after beating subsequent winner Black Poppy at Newbury. PARISENCORE only weakened at the last in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr when racing from out of the handicap. Effectively 4lb lower in this, he’s a previous course and distance winner who has improved since behind Teddy Blue at Newbury in the autumn. Byker ran a cracker to be only beaten a neck in the Boodles at Cheltenham in March but tackles older horses for the first time.
