        Verdict

        Time may prove that the Newmarket maiden in which Doctorate made his debut was a decent contest and the Ed Dunlop-trained colt can build on that effort today. Thomas Lawrence and Joint Destiny can scrap it out for the minors, with Mandobi one to watch out for in the betting market. However, Doctorate shaped as if there are races to be won with him on his his racecourse bow and, with that experience under his belt, this son of Dr Fong can help expand on his sire's growing profile.
