Verdict
A disappointing turn out for the prize money on offer but Charley Bates may be able to dominate as he did when an impressive handicap winner at Chester in May. John Gosden's charge has not been seen since but looked a most progressive colt and is ready for this rise in grade. Legal Approach was a smart juvenile but makes a belated return and is best watched while Sweet Band has something to prove after disappointing in the 2,000 Guineas when last seen in public.
